Acton, TX

A short drive out FM 4.

Acton is an unincorporated community about five to seven miles east of Granbury, where FM 4 meets FM 167, the Fall Creek Highway. It was first called Comanche Peak, and it is where Elizabeth Crockett, Davy Crockett's second wife, is buried. Her grave site is Acton State Historic Site, the smallest state historic site in Texas.

The area filled in during the late 1960s, when the De Cordova Bend Dam went up and Lake Granbury formed. Today the Acton side of the county takes in lake neighborhoods like Port Ridglea, the gated city of DeCordova and, farther south, Pecan Plantation. Acton, Port Ridglea and DeCordova are all in Hood County, so none of them carries a travel fee.

Detailing in Acton

What Acton vehicles deal with.

Commuter miles

If you drive toward Fort Worth on US 377, the front end collects bugs, road film and tar. A regular hand wash with a ceramic spray sealant keeps that film from bonding to the paint.

Lake water spots

Lake Granbury water is high in dissolved salts, so spray from the lake or the boat ramp dries into white spots on glass and dark paint. Spots that have etched in come out with machine polishing, from $399.

Boats at the house

If your boat sits on a trailer in the driveway or at a slip, Shelby can detail it there. Boats are priced by the foot, from $20 per foot for a wash and wax.

Family haulers

School runs, ball practice, dogs and a muddy afternoon on the Acton Nature Center trails all end up in the back seat. The Interior Restore Detail starts at $289.
